Shaun McNicholas is a skilled and innovative trainer, an experienced public and private sector senior manager, and an accomplished songwriter and musician. He has been Director of the Centre for English Language at the University of South Australia (CELUSA), Education Adelaide, the South Australian Institute of Business and Technology (SAIBT) and the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).

He is the writer/producer of Cool English, a Musical Guide to Better Grammar and Writing and The Apostrophe Song iPhone/ iPad application. Cool English is used in schools across Australia, and by the Singapore Ministry of Education.

Shaun has been running innovative and effective writing skills workshops for almost 20 years and is the founder and Director of Cool Rules ...for writers.
THE WRITE START
A half-day workshop on the basics of effective business writing.
Suitable for staff new to the workforce, or new to writing for work.
Music, theatre, animation and video engage, inform and reinforce learning.
PARTICIPANTS WILL:
- Understand why writing well matters.
- Understand why they will never be asked to write a 5000-word essay at work.
- Know the types of documents they will be asked to write.
- Have a clear and simple method for tackling any writing task, in any format or media.
- Understand the principles of Plain English.
- Be confident to have a go!
After the workshop, participants receive ongoing support and advice through The Write Stuff...more stuff program of tips, tools and techniques for writers.
SCHEDULE AND COST
The workshop fee is $340. This includes GST, refreshments, materials, and ongoing support through The Write Stuff...more stuff program. A 10% discount applies to 2 or more bookings in a single workshop; a 15% discount to 5 or more bookings; a 20% discount to 10 or more bookings. Workshops can be tailored to meet specific needs.
